Unfortunately this time around I will be unable to attend the London Collections, but will do my best to cover what I can from my laptop.
Now in it's 4th sitting, the collections are continued in their aim to provide a platform from which designers new and old can cater for menswear particularly and this can only be a good thing.
Some interesting additions to the schedule this year include; Hunter Gather, Kent & Curwen, Crombie, John Lobb, and Woolmark to the Savile Row presentation promoting the importance of textiles, plus a showcase from Jermyn Street which will encompass a range of shirt-makers from the area. They'll also be repeat performances from Magraret Howell, John Smedley, Hardy Amies, YMC, Oliver Spencer and Paul Smith.
What's most exciting is that the mix of menswear on show is not biased in one way or another, the shows are equal parts high fashion or innovation as heritage and tradition. It's important to remember that this is still very much a learning curve and as the collections progress season to season I'm sure we will see the schedule adapt and revise congruent to how investors make their orders.
Fortunately we will be close to the action for a short time and can look forward to a chat with someone experiencing first hand what the collections are doing for the wider market.
